catfish haven

...hopeful yearning for better days...

i ranted and raved about these cats a while back. now, they've got a new record out...a good ole' fashioned long-player that delivers on the promise of the please come back EP.

goddammit. this is some good shit.

they're on some new Creedence type shit, some R&B punk rock type shit, some acoustic whiskey breakdown beatdown type shit, some Otis Day and the Knights type shit. like Marah, when i spin this, i can hear bits and pieces of everything i like about music. and when that george hunter cat starts wailing about love, or drops lines like "i may not be a good man / but i ain't so bad," you just know this is that long-lost R&B record from the '60s that would be all over the AM dial when you'd just wanna grab that girl and pull her closer in the front seat of your black hot rod Lincoln as it rounds the curves up towards lover's leap.

this is soul music. hear it for your damm self.

listen: catfish haven - you can have me [from please come back] listen: catfish haven - tell me [the title track from the new record]
